About the organisation

Marine Rescue Newcastle is a dedicated volunteer organisation committed to ensuring the safety of those on the water in the Newcastle Region. A Unit of Marine Rescue New South Wales, we provide vital services such as emergency search and rescue operations, and marine radio coverage. Operated by a passionate team of trained volunteers, the unit works tirelessly to protect and assist mariners, fostering a safe and supportive maritime community. With state-of-the-art equipment and a deep connection to the local waterways, Marine Rescue Newcastle stands as a trusted lifeline for recreational mariners and fishers.

Kitchen features

The modern kitchen adjacent to the Meeting Room and accessible via a serving counter is fully equipped and designed for convenience and functionality. It features a domestic refrigerator for storing food and beverages, Tea and coffee hot water, a microwave and full-size oven and cooktop for meal preparation. A sink and dishwasher simplify cleanup. Additionally, a cold-water dispenser ensures access to fresh, chilled water. This well-appointed kitchen is ideal for hosting meetings, or training workshops, offering everything needed for comfort and ease. There are additional refrigerated storage and kitchen facilities available upon request.

Tech features

The is a 65-inch High-resolution LED main display allowing graphics, videos and presentations to be displayed clearly. The main display is equipped for interactive and live streaming platforms: Incorporating tools that allow remote participants to ask questions in real time or interact with voice content, significantly enhancing the experience. Microsoft software for PowerPoint presentations is accessible via file import, USB or direct HDMI connection from your own laptop. Ceiling microphones ensure everyone can be heard during interactive meetings with on-line guests. A secondary screen is mounted on an adjacent wall and can be used in extended display or duplicated display configuration.

Transport features

Free parking is available within the precinct and public transport access is available via the Stockton Ferry from Newcastle Light Rail and a short 10-minute walk to the base along the river. There is water access from the Hunter River by a public boat ramp and jetty in front of Marine Rescue Newcastle Base. Maritime NSW restricts mooring time to fifteen (15) minutes at the jetty. For interstate meeting participants who are flying into Newcastle the Marine Rescue Newcastle Base is only 30 minutes from the airport and 20 minutes from hotel accommodation.

Outdoor features

The Marine Rescue Newcastle Building is surrounded by car parking and grassed areas. There is a balcony accessible from the Meeting Room with extensive views of the Hunter River. The varying array of shipping using the port provides an interesting backdrop during meeting breaks. There is also an outside fenced, grassed area for secure outdoor activities if required
