Every year on February 2nd, musicians around the world celebrate World Play Your Ukulele Day. Started by “Ukulele Mike,” the day carries a simple yet powerful idea: bring the world together, four strings at a time.

It’s a reminder that music doesn’t need a grand stage to be meaningful—it needs people, passion, and a place to play.

Whatever your instrument and whatever your level, community spaces are where creativity comes to life. They’re where rehearsals turn into performances, local audiences discover new talent, and music builds connections long before the first note is played.

Today’s photo features the fabulous Australian Ukulele Orchestra performing at Berry Public School in 2023—a perfect example of what happens when great musicians meet in an accessible, welcoming space: joy, participation, and a room full of sound and community.

If you’re a performer, teacher, or organiser: Think beyond traditional venues. Community halls, schools, and local spaces are ready for rehearsals, workshops, performances, and concerts.

If you manage a space that sits idle more often than you’d like: This is your opportunity. Open your doors to music, performance, and local culture. Make your space discoverable, bookable, and active.

Request a booking. Host a performance. Bring your space to life.

World Play Your Ukulele Day is a celebration of music. Community spaces are where that celebration belongs.
